How to Age Backwards in 2025: A Holistic Approach for Women

I have a dream of living to 100, but the reality is that I spent a lot of years not being kind to my body, and aging faster than average. So now I am working on going backwards.

I’ve decided that 2025 is my year to embrace “aging backwards.” Not in a denial-of-age way but in a way that makes me feel vibrant, energized, and genuinely excited about this stage of life. I want to feel healthier, more alive, and more like me than ever before. And if you’re reading this, maybe you want the same thing too. Let’s take this journey together!


Aging backwards isn’t magic or just good luck—it’s about a holistic approach to our wellness that touches everything from what we eat and how we manage stress to the products we put on our skin.


Here are the big things I am planning to do this year, using science and a strong understanding of what your body needs to feel its best inside and out. The number one thing that is aging you is not the sun, it's actually your blood sugar

Blood Sugar Balance and Collagen

I used to think blood sugar was only something to worry about if you had diabetes, but I’ve learned that steady blood sugar is essential for all of us, especially as we age.

Wild blood sugar swings don’t just affect how we feel—they actually damage collagen throughout our body. And collagen is what keeps our skin firm, our joints moving smoothly, and our hair and nails strong. Having healthy collagen levels

I’m focusing on eating a low-glycemic diet filled with whole foods, good-quality proteins, and healthy fats. I’ve cut out processed foods (yes, even the sneaky "healthy" ones with hidden sugars). This not only keeps my energy steady but helps preserve my body’s natural collagen.

Stress, Cortisol, and Collagen

Cortisol, our main stress hormone, is the silent ager. High levels of cortisol lead to inflammation and messed up hormones, and even breaks down collagen too. You might be thinking, but Amy, I can't control the things happening around me that are STRESSING ME OUT, and you would be right, but you probably didn't know that 70% of

your stress is internal from things like inflammation and the blood sugar imbalances we already talked aboutThis means when you follow my advice, you will not only slow down aging but also have more fun and be more relaxed all through 2025! If that's not a reason to age backwards with me this year, I do not know what is.

So not only am I focusing on a diet that keeps inflammation low, but I’m also taking magnesium, which helps me feel balanced even on busy days. My low-stress diet is filled with anti-inflammatory foods—think berries, fatty fish, and nuts. These foods keep inflammation down and stress levels in check.

The EWG website is super helpful in figuring this all out. Just start by searching the products you use now and replace them if needed as they run out with a cleaner option.

As we get older, life can feel more overwhelming. But here’s the thing: feeling joyful, peaceful, and centered isn’t just a bonus—it’s essential for aging well. I’m setting aside time every day for the things that make me feel truly alive, whether that’s a walk in nature, a few minutes of meditation, or cranking the music and dancing to my favourites songs

The Power of Mindfulness

The most powerful thing you can do if your goal is to find happiness and joy as you allow your body to age backwards is taking time to your deep beliefs about yourself. If you find yourself with this goal, of aging backwards, and yet you still find yourself not taking action or not sticking to the plan, why is that? What is sabotaging you? The answer is always you, not your busy life or the challenges you

face day to day. A great book that can help you understand these thoughts and learn how to work with them so that you can be successful is The Kindness Method by Shahroo Izadi . This book changed my life and how I support women. 10/10 recommend. It is a shame free approach to understanding how we sabotage ourselves.

I will share mine and then I want you to think about yours. So you know I want to live to 100, I really like life, and I love getting to be here for my kids, and I want to be here as long as possible. I believe that aging in a way that lets me live too 100 will mean that I get a lot of years of health, and being able to do things with my kids, and their kids, and maybe their kids too. I want my body to age well, so I can move and enjoy this amazing world. I want to go on adventures, and see everything. And having nice skin is a bonus!
